This weekend was quite busy for us. Saturday we looked at a new car for me (again!) and then went to visit my aunt who is in hospital at the moment. In the evening we had a barbecue, but because we came back late from the hospital in Mannheim, we started grilling when everybody else just finished to do so. Besides my grilled sweet potatoes took longer than expected. However, sitting around the grill at night is not too bad either. On sunday we went to the medieval market in Karlsruhe, but, since it took place within the European Juggling Convention it was kind of odd to walk through all the not-medievally dressed jugglers in a long gown. Nevertheless, we made it to the medieval village and as nearly all German medieval markets, it, too, was quite dissappointing. Well, at least it was quite cheap (3 Euros if you're coming in garb).
After having crêpes, Flammkuchen, Schupfnudeln, and apple beignets we had to leave in a hurry for Ettlingen, where we went to the open-air theatre in front of the castle. I thought I was going to see a play, but 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' was actually a musical. Still pretty good. a huge cast, live orchestra and ambitious actors. However, I liked the bad guy Chauvelin better than the hero (the guy on the far left of this photo).
We came home late, but at least nobody could complain that we had a boring weekend :)
